Radio Problems, No Power Going to 12V Run Wire, Constant is OK though

Sorry to bring this back, however I am having a similar issue and would like some help.
I am trying to install a sony aftermarket single dimm stereo onto my factory v6 stereo.
I plugged in the harness and there is no power. I asked a shop and they told me I needed a $90+ harness for my 2009 factory stock radio to be raplced with a simple single stereo.
He mentioned he could run a red wire to direct source for $35, what does that mean?
