Just ordered 2014
Essentially, the day I get the car I'm installing Borla Atak axle-backs and the GT/CS spoiler from AM. That will be it, then I drive the car daily and fix/add things as I like. I have a feeling the first thing will be the shifter.
I say again consider adding Option Code: 453 (3.31 Rear Axle). Its only $395 (Roughly $353 after your discount). Still time to change your order at this point.
3.7L 1st Gear = 4.236
5.0L 1st Gear = 3.66
3.31 Rear Axle in a 3.7L gives you a better launch ratio than 3.73 in a 5.0L.
4.236 X 3.31 = 14.02
3.66 X 3.73 = 13.65
3.7L 1st Gear = 4.236
5.0L 1st Gear = 3.66

Great choice! You'll have the best of both worlds, 305 hp (314 running premium) and about 31 mpg highway miles in one of the coolest cars around!
I have the 3.7 M with the 3.31 and 9 inch nittos, I can smoke the tires all the way though first and most of second. My best 0-60 time is 5.6 seconds, I'm sure I could beat it a little and shave off a couple more 10ths, MT ran a 5.1 0-60.
Top speed in 1st is 39, 2nd 65, 3rd 99, 4th is 117 (top speed is limited)
I think higher gears than the 3.31 would be a uncomfortably fast 1st to second shift, I normally shift about 15 mph to 20 mph. Higher gears (3.73 ) in an auto might not be too bad.
Cruising at 60 mph is about 2500 RPM, 70 mph is 2000 RPM in 6th. I'm getting 32 on trips, have not seen any 4.6s or 5.0s getting this mileage. My math says I'll save about $7K in gas over the life of the car.
I've never had any complaints with the shifter, summer tires are definitely needed, I went with AM tires and wheels combo, and included the tire pressure sensors. Improved the looks and the handling.

Why does everyone have problems with a V6... ?
V6 is $8,700 cheaper than the GT.
I would still do gears on a GT, I would still do exhaust on a GT, I would still do wheels and tires on a GT, I would still do a tune on a GT. So, no price difference there.
With a GT you pay for ~100 more horses and maybe a few other things. But I can't afford a $30K+ car. I wanted a v6 mustang. So let me buy my v6, do a few mods to it, call it mine, and move on. Why does everyone care so much what other people have for their cars lol.

In 2011, I got my 2007 GT that came supercharged for only $14k and 80k miles, but garaged condition. My dad was buying it for me, and kept asking why don't I want the v6 model, we saw a couple 2008-2009 v6's with very low miles for $11-12k. I'm like, the answer is obvious, and he's like "hehe i know" (he rides sport bikes his whole life)
I mean even if I had a subaru WRX, i'd be kicking myself everytime I saw the STi... yes its a d-measuring contest, lol. But nah, I just LOVE power.
I don't have a problem with the V6 at all. When I was 18 or 19, I did the same thing as you did but with a Firebird. I got the V6 because it was cheaper as was the insurance. Then I spent stupid amounts of money on exhaust, wheels, a nice hood...etc. It never sounded good (no V6 will), and every time I pulled up next to an LS1 or even a LT1 Trans-Am, I knew I made mistake. Just posting up from experience.
@ bolded: you've never heard a stock 350z or 370z? they sound so nice, that signature import hum sound. But aftermarket exhausts on them usually make them sound like any other v6 with exhaust. My 3000GT actually sounded very throaty with the test pipe and cat back.
But I would agree that any 4 cylinder will sound like crap, UNLESS its a civic Si or S2000 in vtec (when the camshaft shifts over and become much more aggressive, for unaware) or a subaru boxer engine, the rumble sounds like a v6, and you can hear how easily the pistons slide back and forth, like butter.
Yes it's "normal", but I understand it because you are a car guy, have the money, want more power and spend money on mods.. why didnt you get the "better" version to begin with?

I go to college, and I work an obscene amount of hours per day. I still can't afford a v8 with all the mods I want, but I can afford a v6 with all the mods I want. There's my reasoning. I don't have a dad to buy me a $14,000 car.
I'll be happy with what I get, I don't give two ****s what anyone else thinks about it.
3.7 V6 with 4v VTI Cams at 305 hp is a great engine and there'll be plenty of mods for it to make it better, but it's still (2013-14) the heaviest Mustangs out to date. Unless you count the 71-73 monster barge with a double wide ping-pong table hood.
So weight, mass and inertia will effect your acceleration. 3.55 for auto, 3.73 for manual will help but will kill your milage. But it will still be better then a 5.0. 2.73 were put in stock for a reason, 31 mpg. So 3.31 will be better and keep you at around 24+ mpg.
Many a day in my 5.0 I would be happy with just 21 mpg.
You've got a tank with an engine best placed in the new 2015.
