Hypothetically, what if someone wanted to do this.....
So after I read about the guy who put a sprint cup engine into his mustang, I thought "man that would be freakin awesome!" So I searched the internet a little just to enquire about the engines. This is the link I found:

So I doubt I'd ever be able to afford doing this, but hypothetically lets say someone wanted to drop that bad boy in whats needed to make it work?
First thing that popped into my head was, new transmission, rear end, drive shaft, and clutch. So what about a GT500 transmission and rear end? I've seen quite a few GT500s with power close to these engines.
Then I know there would have to be some custom fabrication for motor mounts and various other things. Also I'm assuming a new ECU and everything since the engine is completely different.
So what else is there that I'm missing? A roll cage?
Again, this isn't anything I'm planning, but how cool would it be?! I'm a big NASCAR fan so to me it would be pretty sweet to have a real NASCAR engine in my car. I don't think it would be sweet paying the money to get it done. Which if I had to guess would be $25,000+.

Haha, well if I can afford the engine obviously I can afford my own oil refinery to make race gas in my backyard.

I think $25k would be a light estimate. You would also have to upgrade your rear end, all your suspension and cooling just to name a few more items. Yes would have to get a new pcm or whatever controls those motors too. With that much power you would need a cage as well to run at most tracks. Frankly that entire motor deal is a deep pockets exercise.

well the pics of the engines show distributers so looks like no pcm needed, but yea these arent for street cars, the guy with the nascar engine in his is a dedicated race car that runs in the upper rpms all the time, he said it totally sucks below like 4k rpm's

Richard Childress sells street cars that have motors which have been run on the track. They were used in Sprint, and Nationwide series cars that he has left over from 2007. They have been detuned for use on the road.
