Default "Check Fuel Cap" warning

2006 GT, auto, vert, 34k miles. Just began getting a "Check Fuel Cap" warning when driving over bumps. Has anyone else experienced this? I always tighten the cap until it clicks, but now it seems to be rattling loose over bumps. Do I need a new a new cap, or is there something I can do to fix this? It happens every time I drive.

Cheap fix, new cap...unless the threads in the metal neck where the cap actually screws on are jacked. Not likely though.

Not saying you did this, but sometimes people make sure their cap is on "extra tight" and make it click like 5 times before stopping. Happened with my dads focus
