What difference do wider tires make?

Regardless, be sure you have a handheld tuner in order to adjust the tire revs/mile accordingly.

275/xx is OK on 9" wire wheels. But the T&RA recommendations do not allow for tires any wider than that on 9's.

The speedometer error going from 255/35-20 to 275/35-20 is only about 2%, or about 1.5 mph difference at 75 indicated. I wouldn't worry about this at all or bother to fix it unless I already had the tuner to do it with. Tires wear about 2% from brand new to the wear bars, and nobody ever worries about that.

Wider tires on the same rims may give you a little more ultimate cornering grip, but they also tend be a little softer in their response to your steering because they'll be a little more 'flexy'. Part of that is the slightly more sidewall height and part is because the beads are being squeezed in a little (the wheel is slightly less supportive against cornering forces and the tire will distort more).

That right there is what you call a WIN. Lol

I have ran 285s on my 18x9 cobra r's before, and while it mounted fine, the tire bowed out, for the lack of better terminology, way too much. 275 is the max I would go, for the back. Otherwise it will start looking like crap if you try to stick to wide of a tire on a narrow rim. Not too mention other safety issues that it would cause, especially being on the 20 inch rim where the absorption is going to be approaching minimum.

+1...best way to confirm size and offset info.

Can anyone recommend a good tire for my 04 GT convertible? Looking for a good ride, its only out 6-8000 miles a year.

And your wheel diameter and width is what?

I don't mind answering here, but since I don't keep SN95/New Edge specs in mind I need a little help.
