Default Headers Question

Hey guys, sorry I'm new to this, but how much exactly do headers increase the hp? Is it worth the money or whats up with that whole deal? I think Jba has the only headers out right now for the 05 but I'm not sure.
Thanks

MAC has headers out too...

HP increase with just headers? not very much...

Now, if you FI or run N2O, Headers can show a good increase... opens the flow up, but without a reason to open the flow, they really won't help a lot

They are more part of the whole, rather than a huge mod in themselves...

Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords did a whole comparo, HP gain was non-existant its only when u combine different combinations is were u might see a gain, Ford did a nice job on the stock exaust, plus the prices r way high right now, i say change the mufflers for now and save your coin for later on down the road.

I thought that comparo was mufflers only...

JBA, Kooks, Hooker, MAC, and Stainless Works make headers, I'm sure some others too. If you want them to make power, get the long tube versions, which usually also require you to replace your factory h-pipe with an aftermarket h-pipe or x-pipe (with or without cats). Expect the noise level to increase - I put JBA long tubes and catted h-pipe on mine and I went back to the stock mufflers, as it got too loud for me with the aftermarket cans (like really loud). Sounds good now with the stock cans, but definitely louder than stock.

I had the shop install my headers & h-pipe along with a bunch of other stuff, but they had originally quoted me $650 to install the headers and $50 more for the h-pipe. Titanium-coated JBA long tubes were like $775, catted h-pipe was about $450 with free shipping.

Wheels are SSR GT-10's -18x8 front, 18x9.5 rear. Tires are BFG KDW2's - 255/45/18 front, 285/40/18 rears. Thanks for the compliment!

yeah that article in muscl mustangs goes pretty deep into the comparisation with full dyno numbers, in the end the jba had better top end and average power and torque, but you will notice the bassani headers have a little better midrange around 4000... if our really interested just grab the mag its the november 2005 issue with the 2007 shelby on the cover...

thats the exact tire size im looking to do, i like those BFG as well, on tire rack alot of complaints of road noise, do you feel the same, i can live with the noise , i just want performance and the cost looks like a good deal, also will the 255 will fit on a 8 in rim ? i thought i had to go with a 9 in rim and a 10 in in the rear for the 285. but maybe not since u obviously have them on your car. wow-650 for a header install, thats really high, why didnt they charge u there hourly labor rate? thx for your info

Per the spec sheet, BFG recommends an 8-9.5" wheel for the 255/45/18 and 9.5-11" for 285/40/18 KDW2's. I don't notice any tire noise, other than some occasional squealing from the rear under hard acceleration [8D] - but my exhaust noise would drown it out anyway. This is a performance car, not some girly Lexus like the one I traded in. They hook up really well, no complaints.

The $650 was a prelimiary quote for the headers before I added some stuff. I wound up having them port & polish my heads and install charge motion plates, headers, h-pipe, 4.10 gears, electric water pump, 39# injectors, and idler pulleys. They gave me a general estimate for everything including welding me a bung for my WB O2 sensor and installing the Lightning 90MM MAF in my 1st-generataion Steeda CAI, and they were pretty close by the time the final bill showed.
