Thank you, I was hoping I could get away with installing it in my own garage. I've watched the installation video from their website. It shows them using the OEM shift ****. If I go with a different ball will the factory boot still seal and work with it?

most of the aftermarket ***** come with the shift boot retainer and will work with the stock boot. I will however suggest not getting a metal ball/****. they get very hot in the summer and its painful to shift without a glove on and that just looks silly haha. good luck.
