Default P0190 Code goes on and off

Hello Everyone,

I start having check engine light a few months ago on my Mustang GT 2007 V8, manual, found out it was P0190 code, after some reading found out first thing to try was to replace fuel filter, replaced the fuel filter and it was off for a two monts, now code is back on, the weird thing is that the code goes off when gas tank is half, then when it starts to empty, check engine goes back on, I full gas tank and again at half check engine will turn off.

Why code is not showing when gas tank is half?

What would be next thing to do?

Should I worry about this code going on and off?

Car is tuned with Bamas tune.

Thanks!

P0190 is a code for the fuel rail pressure sensor circuit. Make sure the electrical connection to the sensor is tight and free of corrosion:

Hey GNR,

I did some digging on this for you and found that the code is a Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor A Circuit.

The CCM monitors the fuel rails pressure sensor to the PCM for VREF voltage. The test fails when the VREF voltage from the PCM drops to a voltage less than a minimum calibrated value.

Possible causes include :

-VREF open in harness
-VREF open in sensor
-Vaccum leaks
-Corroded or loose sensors

I would highly recommend having a shop check this out for you as I think the new fuel filter causing the code to go away for a specific period of time was just a coincidence.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Edwin,

Thanks for the reply, I will double check the connector to see everything is in place and tight.

I appreciate the picture!

Hi Will,

I appreciate researching on this. I will double check the connector, I have not take the car to any shop since in Mexico, I don[t feel confident with their diagnose, some bad experiences before...

Until now check engine has not turn on again, I just fill up the tank yesterday.

Will let you know if something else came up.

Thanks!
