Welcome to the forum.

I'm assuming your car is under warranty. Why on Earth would you NOT go to the dealer for service if there's a potential safety issue?!?!?!?

I'm not sure I understand how this is possible. the only means the seatbelts have to "tighten" themselves is via the pre-tensioners. Those only activate when signaled to by the RCM and PCU (pyrotechnic control unit) in a crash. And they're a one-shot deal.

You're right about the pre-tensioners being a "one-pump-chump," but I have been sitting in (older) cars where the seatbelt slowly manages to latch down on me one click at a time. I believe the issue with this scenario has to do with the spring / rewind mechanism.

I've never experienced that. the "inertia" latch is only supposed to activate on deceleration.

Hello marestang,

Welcome to the forum! My name is Deysha with Ford Service and I recommend you bring it in to your Ford Dealer and getting it checked out. Also, be sure to speak with your service manager about these noises. He is in the best position to ensure a proper diagnosis, and will be able to provide available options and/or coverage for any work needed.

You can schedule an appointment online here.
