Default Are my expectations unrealistic?

Few weeks ago I start hearing a noise coming from the back of the car, sounds like something drivetrain or suspension related. Hard to describe, sounds like a low whine at highway speeds, but more like something rubbing at regular intervals at lower speeds.

Take the car to the dealer to diagnose it. They say it sounds like something in the axle. As my sig shows, I have some bolt on suspension mods, but they agree there's nothing there that should affect the internals of the axle so it's covered under warranty. Great.

I drop the car off last Tuesday, June 16th. Early that afternoon I get a call back saying they're going to replace all the bearings and seals. I don't get a good vibe that they know that's the source of the noise, but ok. How long to get the repair done? Parts are on order, they'll look into when the parts should arrive and call me back.

I don't get a call back. Wednesday I call them. Parts are still on order, again they'll look into it and call me back.

No call back, I call them Friday, same response.

Still no call back. I call back this Tuesday, June 23rd. Parts arrived yesterday. Great, so I should have the car back today? No, probably take a couple days minimum. I'll talk to the tech and call you back.

As of today, still no call back.

I'm calling them for a 4th time in a minute, but I don't know what the deal is and I can't get any useful details from them. I made it clear on Tuesday that I'm on vacation next week and not having my car would be a serious impediment to my vacation plans, but that doesn't appear to mean anything to them.

Is this typical dealer warranty work? Are my expectations out of whack here?

Ask for a loaner car. It's under warranty and they keep pushing the completion date back. Either give you a car to drive or give you your car back. Simple as that.

I asked for about a loaner when I dropped it off and was told I didn't qualify because I didn't have the extended warranty.

The dealer can not necessarily control when the parts will arrive, but can certainly control returning telephone calls and keeping you informed as to the status.
