JBA Power Cables 2005 Mustang V6 9mm Blue

For more performance on your Mustang, you will want to upgrade your ignition wires to a set of JBA PowerCables™. Each set is custom tailored to your Mustang so you get a perfect fit every time. JBA's performance ignition wires feature ultra-low resistance wire-wound mag conductors that allow more spark energy to reach the spark plug without electronic interference. JBA Powercables™ come with 100% silicone jackets for great resistance to high heat as well as abrasion and tears. The high heat boots give plenty of clearance for routing around the headers. Each wire is pre-labeled with the appropriate cylinder I.D for easy installation. The editors at Car Craft made an extra 5 hp on a project engine with a set of 9mm JBA PowerCables™. They look great under the hood too. Available now. Order yours today!

is it actually possible to gain an "extra 5 hp" from just ignition wires?

Default RE: jba power cables

An extra 5 hp from ignition wires alone? Pure bunk. Their statement that an engine made 5 hp more after the addition of JBA power cables may be true but I am absolutely certain they did something else also that they didn't happen to mention.
The factory Ford ignition cables are very good quality and also have silicon jackets. In fact, just about every ignition wire manufactured in the last 20 years has a silicone jacket. This is nothing special.
The wire wound core they claim to have is very good, however many brands of ignition wire also have this so it's really nothing special. I don't know if the factory Ford ones are made this way or not but even if they aren't you are not going to see a 5 hp gain from ignition wires alone. This is of course assuming your stock igintion cables are in good shape. Since these cars are all new or close to new, it's unlikely that your factory ignition cables are bad. IF you keep them free of oil and grease they will last a very long time. For example, my beater has the original ignition cables. They are still perfectly good. That car is 15 years old!
Spend your money on something else, like a cold air kit, Xcalibrator, or Diablosport predator, headers, dual exhaust, ect. Those items will give good increases in hp, torque and fuel economy.
The factory ignition systems on most modern cars are quite good. Spend your money elsewhere.
