Default Buying a mustang with 135k miles

Hey guys. I am looking into buying a used 2005 gt premium with 135k miles for $6,000. Car looks to be in good condition, Is there anything I should look out for ? Is it safe buying a 4.6 with 135k miles? Any input would be much appreciated

Check the passenger side kick panel. The Smart Junction Box is behind it. Look for signs of water damage. If it looks like water got there run away, otherwise just do a normal checkup.

I think the timing set has to be replaced at 100k miles https://lmr.com/item/M6004463V/2005-...it-M-6004-463V

Other than that these cars are nearly bulletproof.

If I were you I'd look for a 2008-09, Those have far fewer problems so even though you might pay more initially you'll save more on the long run.

I'm at 130k miles now. Had to replace alternator recently (P0340 code). You could look on the inside edge of the hood for corrosion, which is common on these cars. Also, see if the lower control arm bushings were ever replaced, there was a TSB for this long ago.

Hell, I just bought one with 161,000! Not to worry! Have you driven it? Listened for unusual noise, vibration, felt brake pedal response, paid attention to shift quality if auto, looked at tires closely, crawled under as far as possible looking for oil leaks, most importantly, turned on ignition key, and watched "prove-outs", verified they all go out?

4.6 is one of the reasonably bullet-proof Ford engines. If it weren't, it wouldn't have lasted this long (1990 Lincoln introduced it), almost 30 years ago.

You could enlist the service of a qualified guy who knows what to look for, see what he says. Gotta pay him, though, for feedback you have no way of judging it's value. Toss the dice. I'd buy it for a grand less.......imp

I've had a 2005 GT Premium for almost 3 years. Only has 51,000 miles on it. Done with a few mods and still love it. Best body style Mustang ever!! I've heard of some going 300,000 Miles. No worries at 135,000 if maintenance was kept up......

If it is an automatic ask to see if there are any service records for trans fluid changes. Mine dumped at 117,000. And do check the sjb as stated above.
