2014 Radio Problems
Well, it happened again, about a week or so ago.
I disassembled the console and removed panels, as before. Again, once all the harnesses were disconnected and then reconnected after several minutes, the stereo and SYNC came back to life.
I would dearly like to know if anyone here has found the one signal line that needs to be interrupted in order for this reset to occur. There are two harnesses in the rear of the stereo that get disconnected. After these all get disconnected (plus the antenna) and reconnected, the system works again.
I will add that I had had multiple times between February and August where the stereo would go "out to lunch" for a few minutes to a couple of hours before functioning again. Intermittent problems are the bane of any tech's existence and it's no less of an annoyance here. I hate the thought of having to spend $600 or more to buy an aftermarket system to cure this problem.

Seems this post died out before anyone came to a conclusion.
Anyone with any information on this matter, please respond. I've ordered yet another ACM, and this time, an amplifier.
All factory components by the way.
Thanks
This last “pull it out and put it back in” session gave me 4 days. Whatever it is, it’s getting worse. I’m definitely not buying another OEM unit: I can’t really afford the $800 it’s going to cost me for an aftermarket setup ($300 head unit, dash panel, adaptors, etc — cheapest solution).
this last time, I hit all the connectors with DeOxIt. That, obviously, wasn’t the problem.
my fear is that the SYNC unit is causing this and if I spend $800 to replace the HU , panel, etc, that’s money I’ll never get back if the replacement fails.
the technology is obviously beyond what the dealerships or even Ford support are capable of resolving. Why else have such a widespread issue that seems to have no resolution? I’ve been an electronics tech most of my working life but have no documentation to use to troubleshoot it and that info is likely proprietary.
has anyone on here replaced the HU with an aftermarket stereo and had the problem never come back?
thanks,

Well I have also been hit by the Mustang radio issue. My issues are identical to those posted. Pop, no radio. Then it works for a short period of time and then stops. Currently nothing. Seems like from all of the communication in this post, no matter what it will eventually die for good. I have probably reached that point and will have to shell out $ for an after market brand. I did call Ford about 6 months ago to check for any recall on this and of course there wasn’t. I have never heard of a car radio dying before. Seems like an obvious recall to me. Unless someone knows that Ford will help, I’ll move on to the next radio. $800 for something I already had! Uggh!
So I figured the radio was done and ordered a Pioneer double DIN, with all the adaptors and added a reversing camera.
I bought from Crutchfield. I spent about $750. Their support is awesome and I had the package in two days. I highly recommend the upgrade. Car tech has changed dramatically in 6 years.
Apple CarPlay via cable and it does Waze on the big screen, plus a lot of other stuff.

I have been experiencing the typical radio problems with the Shaker Sync radio in my 2014 Mustang premium starting in September 2020. It started out with random popping while listening to music via Bluetooth which would resolve after a few seconds then eventually the radio completely stopped working within a couple months. The buttons were completely non responsive except the disc ejection one. The screen displayed the temperature and flashing time. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the fuses for the radio and Sync a few months ago with no resolution. Also, I tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then reconnecting. No resolution with this either. The car is no longer my daily driver so I let it sit for 2 weeks. I drove it to work the past couple days and the radio was in its usual non working state both days to and from work. This morning I started the car and was shocked when the radio was back to its normal working state the 3 times I drove it today. However, I have not tried to use Bluetooth again yet. I made an interesting realization just now. I noticed my that my fog lights were still on from last night. The radio works when the fog lights are on and I start the car. If I turn off the fog lights while driving the radio stops working and is back to how it was before. If I turn the fog lights back on after a few seconds the radio starts working again.
Hi All,have same problems with 2014 mustang shaker, pops and no radio,it has been comming back an after a whlie sitting but not now,was wondering if anybody had tried just changing the face plate on the shaker and had any luck, saw a youtube post where this fixed same issue, anybody ? Thanks
I’ve been reading the thread and I’m having the same problem. Time is flashing and outside temp works. CD will eject but no sound??? Has anyone figured out how to fix it? This should be a recall, we pulled the radio out it worked for about 3 weeks and stopped again. I need music…
Had this intermittent pop then fail then just flashing time.
Solution:
Take out radio
disasseble radio and remove circuit board
place circuit board on 4 small tinfoil ***** on baking sheet
bake @385 for 10 minutes and allow to cool completely without touching!
put back together and back in car
radio sounds brand new
The idea here is that broken solder points melt and fix themselves. I was very skeptical but gave it a try since it was a free fix, shocked this actually worked.
