05 V6 Rear Thump noise

05 V6 Rear Thump noise
I searched the forums with no luck....I have a 05 Mustang V6. The car has 135k miles on it. The rear end started to make a slight thump noise on slow speed coast. More annoying then anything else. I tried changing the wheel bearings (that’s what the noise really sound like) the noise is better but still there. Also kinda sounds like a universal....
I would rather not not put a lot of money into the stock V6 rear if not a easy fix. What other year of rears/driveshafts would fit?

Not sure if it's like my 2010 GT, but there may be a trackbar back there, it could be loose. The shocks could be loose or worn up in the trunk area (There's a rubber pad there which may be worn), and there's a rear sway bar.
Bushing may be worn on it...only way to know is jack up the rear and get under there and see if there's any movement in them... might not be much, but they should be very firm.

This is probably not going to help at all, but lets get all the stupid stuff out of the way: did you jack/spare tire come loose under your trunk's floor mat? If your car is a premium, it has a rear sway bar. As GT Nate said, I would check all connection points to see if anything is loose.

End links can make noise, the panhard bar (trackbar) can make noise, and the
center upper control arm. Any bad bushings can cause noise; shock mount or
bushing... Lots of things of the bushings are blasted... IT can also be the sway
bar bushings, or the end links, most common.

Wish you could replace the ujoints without having to replace the whole driveshaft.

U-joint. Get under the car and grab the drive shaft near the differential and wiggle it some . Should be very little play. Try to rotate it back and forth quickly and push up/down on the shaft near the joint. If any of the rubber necks rings are torn or broken, no need to even test it. That's what's wrong.
