Default lugnuts and keys

Hey Guys,

I need to get new lugnuts and keys (16 regular, 4 locks).
Anyone have recommendations of where to get them?

Thanks.

Last time I did that, they started rusting within a year. Looking for ones that last longer than that.

I would just go onto Amazon and check them out by reading the reviews/pictures. I've noticed that generally speaking, the ones that are 100% chrome will rust in a short amount of time vs the the one that are stainless steel. Not as shiny as chrome but more more resilient.

I agree, the stainless steel will last longer. I'm not a big fan of locking lugs in the first place but you could also get OEM ones from Ford.

The days of stealing wheels is long past. When your car is hit, 10:1, they know
you, and/or are settling a score. I have never had wheels stolen, and I don't use
locks. The lug-stud locks that were on my VW, took them off. All they are is
a future headache should you lose the keys. I see more of that, than anyone,
over someone saying that they had their wheels stolen. Happened to my uncle
ONCE, in the 80s on one of his Mach 1s. He found out who did it, ONE of them
was his so-called friend. My uncle beat the living **** out of him, never happend
again. Almost every time your car is burglarized, it's someone you know... I
knew everyone who stole from me, or my family members. They were ALL
so-called friends, and even family... Why? Because they know what you have,
they've seen it...

I completely agree with this. On a lighter note, a local Chevy dealer in Slidell had 124 wheels and tires stolen off brand new cars on their lot. Those guys knew what they were doing!

Yeah, my uncle went outside to go to work, and there the car was, up on blocks, and all the wheels missing.
I lived with my grandparents for many years, and it never happened to me there. I have seen news reports
about car lots being hit like that. The problem was, they let the cars back down without wheels, damaging
them. Now that you can buy battery powered scissor jacks, and impact tools, you can go through a lot in
a few hours...

The only car break in we had was not someone we knew. The dog started barking at about 3 in the morning one time. Went down to calm her down and happened to look outside and noticed my wife's interior lights were on. My initial thought was, "great, I'll have to give that car a jump in the morning." And then I realized, I was the last one home and the light wasn't on when I got home and the dog had just been barking. So the dog and I went outside to check and the passenger door of her car was wide open.

They hit several cars in the neighborhood and I guess our dog scared them off. Guy across the street lost a bunch of hockey gear and equipment. All we lost --------------- 4 CD's that were scratched and my wife hadn't gotten around to throwing them out and a handful of change from the console. But on the ground next to her car? The burglars dropped $15. So thanks guys for taking out the trash and getting rid of the nickels and pennies that were sitting in the car rattling.

In our subdivision now we had someone hitting all of the unlocked cars. They finally caught the guys, two 17 years olds and a 19 year old. They had been driving around hitting various subdivisions for a couple of weeks. They got caught when they were brazen enough to start hitting cars in the daylight; owner called when he saw them and the cops just happened to be over on the next street.

But none of us knew the kids.

Or maybe the wheels on your vehicle were not worth stealing (nothing special). We had a rash of stolen wheels (rims+tires) in our neighborhood for a few months. It was all lifted trucks with their $2.5 to $3K+ wheel sets being taken. Typical wake up in the morning and find your truck on blocks scenario. About six months later one of the neighborhoods about a mile down the road had the same issue.

It finally stopped after police setup a bait truck. They didn't catch anyone but supposedly had detained and questioned some people on a couple of occasions. It must've rattled someones chain or they figured they'd move on to easier pastures.
