Hello, I have 2006 Mustang GT that has a rattle when i rev up the engine. I talked to a Ford dealership and they said it was the timing chain, but when i opened it up the timing chain, the guide rails, everything was fine. I replaced it anyways while i was in there, but the rattle is still there. I'm hoping someone can identify the rattle or tell me of some diagnostic steps i can use to figure it out. What all did you replace while you were in there?

A common failure point for 05-06 4.6L 3v engines are the timing tensioners. They use a gasket and are made of plastics instead of a machine fit cast iron/aluminum so while the guides might be ok, the tensioner doesn't hold tension and allows the chain to bounce around even if the guides are ok.

I replaced the chains, tensioners, guide rails and crankshaft sprocket.
