So. Been doing some research for the lift. Found out the Ford Explorer has same strut pattern as the mustang. So my first thought was swapping struts and shocks from an explorer as it’s an suv so it would theoretically sit higher. But that’s not the case. (M for Mustang and E for Explorer) They are almost no different.

But, being the same pattern, I can use a leveling kit ($118 on eBay) and still get the same results. Not my preferred lift but it will still end of with the look I want until I have the real money to buy so fox or king shocks for a lifted explorer to fit.

still waiting to pick up a bumper and skid but have one paid for and set up for pick up.

Have raptor ranger grill letters and lights ordered from China so won’t be here until March.

Also added a hitch onto it today. Wanted a rest recovery point and the option for a bike rack, cargo rack or possibly tow a teardrop trailer for camping

Picked up Raptor bumper, skid plate and FJ roof rack. All will need a bit of fab work to fit right on the vehicle. We’ll see how she ends up with my limited skills and tools

Bumper is on. It looks a little goofy though. Definitely need to bend in the sides and do a pie cut on the ends to make them match the body line. Probably end up building a filler panel for the top to fix some of the weird void. But overall not horrible

Add a supercharger to your 3.7 (or a turbo from the 3.5 Ecoboost) and rename your project Velociraptor Mustang Build.

Subscribed...I love this build idea and the fact that you're just going for it!

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure just changing shocks won't provide any lift w/o taller springs.

The spacer lift seems like a fine way to go, unless you're really going to try exercising the suspension travel on some rock crawls - which would also be awesome.

Glad you enjoy the build.

I think I’ll go with spacers until I get some cash to buy actual suspension. Think Eibach and some other companies will do custom lift springs for them.

In the end I really do want it as close to capable as a real raptor so full suspension and 4wd is in the plan. Just comes as funds do

Did more research and looks like 2000s Ford Escape struts are the “same” and have an extra 2” compared to the Mustang struts. Will check next time I’m at the auto parts store. Would love to have the lift done as suspension and not blocks.
