New tires on the stang just in time for HooptieX snow cross next weekend in Glenwood, WA.
Went with the cheapest all terrain in the same size as my old BFGs. Little less aggressive than I’d like but I think they’ll be exactly what I need for rally cross and daily driving
i loved seeing the KO2's on your mustang, I have them on my Tundra and love them.
I still have the KO2s. I threw the new tires on the wheels from the street tires I picked up. Don’t remember if I had photos posted about them. So KO2s will be spares. And two will be in the tire carrier soon to come.
Well, here we go, these A Arms are built for drifting and are 3” longer than stock. Drift American hooked me up Matt at Make It Modular and is making me a custom set with ball joints to work with my 17” wheels. These will be beefier and with the added length it will fix my bad camber. I will also be doing a K Member drop to try and bring the geometry back closer to stock and try to get a bit more lift.
Welp, here we go boys and girls. Along with the new arms being built, she’s getting long travel coilovers thanks to Flatout Suspension.... this thing is gonna be wicked
So it’s been a while and a lot has happened to the stang lately. I’ve been crazy busy and bad about updating this build.
to start, the custom a arms I ordered were built specifically for drift and didn’t end up lining up correctly. I won’t go into any more details because there were lots of problems there.
on the plus side, yes I ordered coilovers and they are awesome!!! Flatout Suspension killed it. They sit about the same on the mustang now but will eventually get adjusted out when I get around to adding k member drop and some other suspension mods to keep geometry all happy.
so, I got coilovers installed and in a pinch threw some stock arms on it to get me by for the OG Gambler 500/HooptieX event. That basically wasn’t an option to miss. I met a lot of rad dudes there. Terry Madden, B is for Build, Bleepinjeep and many more big car names. Hooptie was rad. I sent it like crazy. Overheated the stang a bit too much. And then bent my control arms….. wooo. The best part was I wasn’t even racing when it happened. Go Figure. I was going about 70-80mph back to camp down a gravel road and came across a blacktop crossing quite a bit higher than the gravel and jumped it pretty hard. When I came down it buckled both arms pretty bad. Luckily I had some local gamblers there who live right down the street from me that let me drive their gambler home (a Vw rabbit on a s10 chassi lifted over 12” and so many other crazy mods) and they trailered my rig home. Got lots of attention at the event and headed home.
now that it’s back at the home garage, I’m waiting on funds to put BMR LCAs on it (should have just started there) and I started cutting into the back to build dual tire carriers. So that’s where we are now.
currently I’m in quarantine with my second run of the rona. So hoping to be back in the garage soon busting it out before summer is over
