Default quick comment/question

After another week in the shop and over a grand later, I'm thinking I have finally had just about enough of my '03 GT and will be buying an '06, hopefully to be delivered within a couple of months. The Dealer tells me that we are not having any problems getting them here in Toronto, so I am optimistic that I won't have to wait forever for it. *crosses fingers*

That was the comment part of my post, now here is the question LOL.

Do any of you have the factory option 18" polished bullit rims?

Apparently, they are "late availability" and I was wondering if anyone had them yet.

Pics if you got 'em please.

Thanks

Oh yeah. I have read the thread about the problems which are common with these newer cars i.e. gastank, creaking suspension, shaker 1000. I was wondering if there was anything else I should be aware of and have they sorted out any of these problems yet? That Shaker 1000 system is a pretty expensive option. I would hate to waste my money if it's not worth it......but I do want a kickass sound system.

luckily the 06 models took care of the little things u have been hearing about the gas tank etc...as for the 1000 it is truly awsome for a factory system, it does not disappoint, pricey yes but mine came with it and now i am glad to have it. Also those 18" fanblade r like a 1800 option not worth it with a 235 tire on it, go after market and save!

thanks. Glad to hear it.

About the rims......I was looking on the Ford site and they are also offering the bullits just like yours for 2006 models, except in 18" and they are polished..........still kinda lame with the 235/50s on them though.

I'm doing the "new car mod" LOL.

I can not speak about the 06 model, but for 05 they also offered the polished bullits, even have an order code for them....until you actually try to order them. Then you get told that they are aftermarket and they want to charge you some stupid rediculous amount of money for them. In my case, it was $1800. Actually, I have seen a couple of sets of the fan blades that people have polished and they look pretty sharp. One set in perticular where the guy had the blades polished, but the outer lip of each blade was left brushed, and so was the outer rim of the wheel.

As for the skipper1000, if you are not in any way an audiophile, it is a great system. If you actually do enjoy your music, it is junk. Sure, it turns up loud, but the speakers are crap. The amps are crap. Sound just all runs together. No real definition in the sound, highs don't exist, bass is soft. The head unit is certainly nothing special. I don't think they have the disc errors with them anymore like they used to, but I went through two of the "A" series and two "B" series head units before I finally said the hell with it and ripped the entire system out. I would at least recommend getting the 500 just for the 8" sub boxes in the door panels. Obviously you want to rip the speakers out and replace them. Even with just a speaker replacement it is an improvement over the factory subs. But the box in the door panel makes the cost of the 500 worth the price. There are some nice sub boxes on the market for the 05 to current cars for the trunk. Scosche makes one that fits like a glove in to the right side of the trunk, holds a single 12" sub, is about 1.2 cubic ft. or so of air space.

As for the other things you mentioned, I would venture to say that all of the problems that their have been TSBs issued for have most likely been corrected from the factory now. Of course there is one other thing you will have to deal with. If you purchase one of the S197 cars you will be tagged with the label of not being knowledgable about cars...even to the point of not knowing what the S197 series is, and just bought one to jump on the bandwagon, and are stuck up, and suck, and having a mid life crisis, and don't appreciate "real" Mustangs, and you will own the ugliest Mustang ever released, and so on, and so on...

torch said the wheels were 1800 option! I think they were like 825.00 u.s. 735 on xplan. Well worth it for me. I plan on selling my 18" 235's as soon as my ebay 17" and snow tires come in. And ordering a set of goodyear eagle F1 GS D3's 255/45r18.
might be an idea tho order with the stock 17"s and get snow tires for those, since your up in canada, and go aftermarket 18"' or w/e.

As for any of the problems with the 05's not being fixed for 06, the only thing I have an issue with so far is the skipper500. It hasnt ejected any Mp3 discs yet, but chops off the end of songs now and then.

Thanks very much for the help guys. This is awesome information. I am really looking forward to the switch now. You have made me alot more comfortable.

It's not anything against the new model of car or anything. I like them (obviously) [8D] I have an issue with Mustangs in general. It's a love/hate thing. I love them but every time I get one it ends up being a complete POS [:@] Mine is such a heap that my girlfriend can't believe I would buy another one........ever LOL.

I really dig the new car. It drives sooooooo much better than the previous models and it's so much more comfortable than my car. I actually feel more like I fit in the car physically. I am 6' and 200 pounds and my '03 is like a coffin.

Anyway, thanks all. I am going with the black on black leather again with the 18" polished bullits and the 500 stereo. Going with the factory rims because somebody might wanna kick my *** if I go out and buy a new set of aftermarket rims for a brand new car..........but if they are included it's "just part of the price"
