I talked to my Insurance guy over the weekend... in our conversation the issue of stolen mustangs came up.

Mustangs are getting stolen, but - they are not being stolen by people getting in them avoiding security features and hot wireing the car.

They are getting stolen by being towed off. - - almost 80% of them!

I forgot the percent, but the majority of the rest of the stolen mustangs were situations where the theif had access to the keys....
- Cars running in driveways
- Cars left running at gas stations
- Car in Garage with keys on workbench
- Keys stolen from victom in malls, resturants and public events. (Yea - thief follows you.. swipes your keys... out to parking lot and away with car!)

There are lots of things you can do to prevent "hot wire" theft.. but it is really hard to keep the tow truck theif from getting it!

 

The blind spot is not that big of a deal. You learn to compensate for it by using the mirrors. Regarding the keys, I paid $62 last week at my dealer to get two security keys cut. I programmed them myself using the instructions in the owner's manual.
