Stock Shifter Sucks!

RE: Stock Shifter Sucks!
If all the short shifter is doing is just that, then what’s the reason for the notchy feel? I enjoy the smooth shifting of the stock, but would like them to be shorter, is there any aftermarket shifters that are smooth from the get-go?
Stock was smooth from the beginning, not sure if the aftermarket shifters have the design correct?
Thanks,
Mike

RE: Stock Shifter Sucks!
Someone mentioned the Saleen shifter. It's actually some bolt on items to the stock shifter that shortens the throws by 30%. I have never driven a regular stock 5 speed (have an s281), but it's only a $30 investment in the Saleen variety. They used to use Hurst shifters in the late 80's... Maybe nothing was available a the time they came out with the 05s? Im not that disappointed with this shifter, I just wish it had a little tighter centering spring for that 2-3 shift. Anyone try the Pro 5.0 yet? They just came out with their version for the 05s! I think they had one of the best for the Fox Platforms

I'm sorry to say this but I absolutely hate the stock shifter, I have a 06 gt 5spd and it just doesnt feel natural when I'm shifting. Anyone else experience this flaw?

RE: Stock Shifter Sucks!
there is no question that the stock shifter is "spongey" and it's way too hard to find thrid in a hurry.
The shifter has all kinds of rubber dampners in it because the 3650 is such a noisy transmission. The previous model of mustang had the same issues but since Ford didn't seem to care if the car was noisy, there was not quite as much of a spongy feel.
I think this car needs an aftermarket shifter real bad.

I have the same feeling with 3rd (06 GT). Overall I like the shifter, but 3rd isn't good at all.. I may take the leap to the Hurst shifter come spring time
Anyone got a report on how they like theirs?
