Default Snow Tires ?

It's getting to be that time here in the northeast, and I was wondering what those with rear wheel drive in the winter may suggest. I am using Blizzaks on my other car which is a awd volvo, but can not get them. Tirerack does not have a full set and does not expect any more as well as my local tire guys. Any have experience with x-ice or Dunlap winter sport M3's ? Based upon reviews I have read those are on the top of my list. I know that they are different types (winter sport vs studless). My need would be for going up some hills and for moderate distance on the parkways. Thanks.

I drive a V8 mustang in the winter every year and have found that any "good" snow specific tire will be fine.

I had much more success with the larger 245/45/17" pirelli snow tires for 3 seasons than when I tried to get away with 215/65/16" on steel rims.

Right now I am waiting for the snow tires for my car to come in. I drove in a couple of inches of snow this week on the stock 235 all seasons and got through it no problem. I am hoping it will be a tank with the real snows on it.

If you can find them this time of year, goodyear Eagle ultra Grip GW3's are excellent, followed by the Dunlop M3. I have gw3's on order but the looks of it winter will be over before goodyear gets off thier **** and starts production again. I may end up with the M3's that are available, but 35 more per tire. Calling my dealer rep Monday to pitch a bitch.

I park mine for the winter. Far too many idiots on the icy roads. Besides, even without the idiots winter is just too hard on vehcles. I worked too hard to get my Mustang and I will not screw it up by driving it in the winter. I have a beater that probably isn't worth more than $1000 and if some idiot hits it I'm not out much. If some idiot hit my Mustang I'd have to kill him / her. Then what are you gonna do with the body? and those annoying police....

Stoenr: So did you think of that mature, inteligent response on your own or did you have help? Just because someone has an opinion different than your own is not reason to make yourself look like an imature moron by calling people names. This may come as a shock to you but you have to share the world with other people and some of them just might have some ideas and thoughts that are different from your own. Just because something works for one person does not mean it works for the next person. Have a little respect, or is that a concept that you seem to be having trouble with?
I worked very hard to get my Mustang and I intend to take good care if it. I had my last vehicle for 27 years. That's probably longer than you've been alive and it was worth substantially more when I sold it than when I got it. When yours and most others are long gone mine will still be in good shape. I take pride in my cars as to me they are not disposable items. So I ask that if you are too narrow minded to understand that other people may do things differently than you, the least you can do is try and respect them.
If you have nothing inteligent to offer go someplace else.

Appology accepted. While I can respect your opinion you had all the tact of Adolph Hitler. That was what got me excited. At any rate, I do not intend to start a war and I appreciate your appology.
