Default exhausts

Hey gang. I'm new to the forum, but not new to Mustangs nor performance car forums. I'm on my Fifth Fox-body (an '89 5.0 ragtop that I've had for 10 years), and I have spent a lot of time in the past couple years on the Caddy CTS-V owners forum.

The CTS-V has made the ragtop seem "dated", so I am strongly considering upgrading my ragtop to a 2006 GT. I've done a search, but I can't find any posts regarding exhausts. I'm not having any luck with the search feature on this forum. On the CTS-V forum there are about 50 "best exhaust" threads.

It's nice to see that the 2005/2006 GT has bolt on mufflers from the axle back (though the aftermarket prices are a bit silly for a pair of cans). What seems to be the favorite aftermarket exhaust for the 2005/2006 GT's? I've got the requisite Flowmasters on my 5.0, but Corsa on the CTS-V and on our V8 equipped boat.

I'm in my forties so I don't want to ride around sounding like an 18 year old, but I want an authoritative growl once I get on it. What are the preferences from members here? Corsa seems to be a favorite for "quiet" while cruising but "loud" when leadfooting.

Thanks in advance. I apologize if this is like the 100th exhaust thread.

Doug

Default RE: exhausts

Flowmasters = Muscle Car Sound. Cheaper.
Corsa = You said it
Borla = Wonderful, throaty sound. Expensive.
Mack = Seems to be a favorite around here. Perhaps someone would post a clip. I've never heard them.
FRP = Seems to be a Borla/Corsa in disguise.
Steeda = Same
SLP = Loudmouths are wonderous sounding, but they are very, very loud. (I'm going SLP Loudmouths w/Off Road H Pipe)

Don't even touch Magnaflow. Wasted money.

Hope that helps some.

Thanks for the replies. Interesting; less options for the CTS-V, but Magnaflow was a latecomer and people seem to like it, though I have never seen or heard one. Corsa and Billyboat are the most popular on the V, with Corsa having a slight edge as an official GM licensed part. Bassani and Borla are much less common.

Anybody who has (or has seen) Corsa cans on a Mustang....do the round cans extend below the body panel? Can anybody post a pic (or direct me to one)? The photos on Corsa's site doesn't show a side view.
