Third Brake Light & Trunk Emblem Removal HOW TO?
Has anyone attempted to remove the third brakelight? I have seen a few threads on emblem removal, and I guess it is just glued on?? Is this true?
Can someone post a quick how to if you have tried this either one.
Thanks in advance

Decklid emblem removal: Use hair dryer to warm emblem (will soften adhesive on the back). Pull fishing line (somebody said 20lb test; not sure what mine was; less than 20 might break and frustrate you) around the emblem, a bit at a time until you have pulled completely around at which point the emblem will pretty much almost fall off. 5-10 minute job, no damage to paint or emblem.
Haven't done the brake light.
Say, why are you doing this; got an interesting story or plan there?

yea you do need it legally, at least in FL, I wanted to take it off in order to install stripes easier. I now only have them on top of my trunk but would like to pull them all the way down. I have scrap vinyl but i'm not sure how else to install them, other than taking all the stuff off. To cut around manually would just not be clean enough.

You only need 2 brake lights on a single axle 4 wheel vehicle in the state of FL. The 3rd light is a industry standard but not a legal requirement. See below:
This is from the official Florida Drivers Handbook 2004-2005 from the FL DMV
Chapter 5
Your Vehicle
These items will be checked before you take the driving test for your license. If your tires, brake light, directional signals, brakes, steering, horn or mirror are not in good condition, you will not be allowed to take the driving test.
You may be stopped at any time by a law enforcement officer for a vehicle inspection.
Equipment Standards
The equipment on your car must meet certain standards. These are listed below.......
Lights:
Your car must have the following lights:
Bright (high-beam) headlights which show objects 450 feet ahead.
Dimmed (low-beam) headlights which show objects 150 feet ahead.
Two red taillights mounted on the rear, visible from 1,000 feet.
A white light that makes the license plate visible from 50 feet (The plate must be kept clean).
Two red stoplights. They must be seen from 300 feet in the daytime, and must come on when the foot brake is pressed.
All vehicles, including animal-drawn vehicles, must have at least one white light visible from a distance of not less than 1,000 feet to the front. They must also have two red lights visible from a distance of not less than 1,000 feet to the rear, or one red light visible to the rear for a distance of 1,000 feet and two red reflectors visible from all distances from 600 feet to 1,000 feet.
So basically you can remove the light with no legal issues. I hope this helps.
