Default Shorty antenna performance

I've been thinking about getting the shorty antenna, does it affect how well stations come in? Logic tells me that it would but I'm hoping I'm wrong, that God awful whip needs to go.

I believe it doesn't...they designed it so it wouldn't make reception worse I think. But I could be wrong, of course.

I got an 8" shorty antenna but the reception definately suffered. Signals either didn't come in well where the original antenna worked fine, or the signal would sound hollow and not very clear. I went back to the stock antenna.

Alot of people say they have absolutely no issues at all whatsoever with short antennas but I would imagine it depends on how close you live to the source of the signal and other variables.

I have a 15" antenna on my 05 and it's OK. I think the Higher up AM stations suffered the most, but FM seems fine.

I put one on the vette two years ago and never noticed any difference in reception of FM, and a slight ddgradation in AM reception, but still good with AM local stations.

I got one of the 8" shorty's before I got the car. Looks really cool, but the POS Skipper 500 won't pick up even radio stations and the only American (AFN) station is 102.2 so I can't pick it up. Get the German stations just fine...
