Default need a 5pt harness

I would like to get a 5pt harness for my 06 gt but i don't know where to go. Do i have to change the seat out or is their a system where i can use the factory seat? I won't be taking it to the drag but i do a little street racing and some airport drag racing in it and i would just like to get something that would hold me in the car a little better if something was to happen. At 140 some mph i don't think the stock seat belt would do to much..thanks for you help

just pick a brand you like. i prefer simpson or impact. you will want the bolt in type and individual shoulder straps(not the Y-type ones) you will have to drill some holes in your floor to mount them unless you plan on getting a roll bar then they can be wrapped around the cross bar behind the seat. they make these in different lengths so just measure from your waist over your shoulders to the floor behind the seat and check a few different companies to see who has a set long enough. in my old pro street car i did this with the stock seats and it worked fine. i think i had simpson cam-locks then.

+1 - the simpson are really good. PS - at 140 MPH crash on the highway, NO seatbelt set-up is going to save your life. If you like to go that fast, you should look into a roll cage set-up. There are shops that can fabricate a NHRA approved set-up that won't destroy your back seat and you can't even notice it from the outside of the car.

DO NOT fit a 5 point harness of any description unless you are fitting a roll cage! reason being..you fit the harness without the cage and you roll you wind up dead or paralysed simple as that!

at 140 on the highway he's dead no matter what kind of seatbelt is installed. the stock one sure as hell isn't going to help. i agree with chevykiller(love that name!)... strongly consider getting at least a 4 or 6 point bar if you really are going that fast. the new stangs are really safe and stiff cars but nothing is going to make a difference at that speed except a good safety cage. i have seen some that are really unobtrusive and still retain full function af the rear seat and swing out/removeable side bars are NHRA legal. i'm going to put one in mine in the summer. especially if i decide to spray it. my wife has set my rules as must retain full function of all seats and no climbing over bars to get in and out. a good chassis place can do some neat stuff. i use gary athey at arc in virginia.

yeah i gues i've always been a chevy hater. my dad worked for fomoco for years before starting his business. i have never owned anything but fords and have been building and racing them since age 14(i'm now 34). i'm working on building this thing into a LS1-2 killer. i'm hoping to embarrass some of those long nose fbodies. i have to admit they are fast but damn they are ugly. i guess that's why they quit making them. and that the mustang out sold them 2:1!!
