Well the Stang is back from the shop and here are the numbers...

At the crank 475 hp

415.44 rwhp

384.36 Torque

It's not quite what I was expecting but keeping in mind this is with Vortec's supplied Predator tune.
This tune will not allow timing changes so I hoping for more horse power with a different tune, possibly between 430 and 450 rwhp. Anyway I'm very pleased with the power and its awesome to drive.

I find that hard to believe, especially since Vortech is located in CA.
+1 - don't believe everything you hear/read. Voretch is located in Oxnard, Ca.

It is looking REALLY good. Congrats! And don't be down about the vortech tune. I'm actually pretty impressed with 415 rwhp with the supplied tune. I only made 390 with it. Just a little advice for ya though - don't worry about bumping up the timing at all. You won't need it to get where you want with just a couple other low cost mods. Bumping up the timing gets very hard on the motor even with high octane. My daily driver tune is 434 RWHP with no added timing. My Race tune is 481 RWHP with 17 degrees added timing and I run VP 110 for that tune. When you start playing with the timing, have to remember you're putting your car at greater risk for detonation and have to use higher octane. I'm not saying timing isn't good to do, I'm just saying I wouldn't add any for a driver tune and just add a little for a race tune and test it out - but remember to use high octane. We've been talking and as I said, I'll have an email for you this weekend with some tunes. If you didn't get the MAFIA with your kit - get it asap. You're going to need it. Talk to you soon.

You don't need forged internals with the vortech if you keep the car under 450 rwhp and the rev limiter reasonable (under 6900 rpm)

Find out how much total timing you are running right now. How were your a/f #'s? If you were rich and your timing was conservative, just have them jig you a new, slightly smaller pulley off your currrent one. Problem solved.

Birbieman4: I believe my timing was at 18 does that sound right?

Chevykiller: excuse my ignorance a MAFIA?

It sounds a little high. It's probably more like 14-16 or so I'm guessing. Do you know what your air fuel ratio # was at top rpm in top gear on the dyno?

Birdieman4:

O.K. I grabbed the dyno chart... looks like 13.5 a/f @ 5800 rpm 4th gear
