93 octane
need help here im gonna buy the C&L cai with the predator tuner do u get more power from running high octane fuel or will it be the same as running 87 octane also running 93 octane (which is the highest here in st.louis mo. )can it hurt the motor at all cause my owners manual says to run 87 only any help would be great oh yea im getting mac axle back mufflers also these will be the first two mods to my baby thanks alot
I have this package. I was given a choice of tunes based on octane. 93 will give you more HP and more MPG. But if you only need more HP at the track for example you could run the lower octane tune while daily driving and then change it when you put in the good stuff. Personally, my baby only gets the good stuff.

We have had so many of these octane threads...LOL
93 octane WILL NOT give you any more power to your car. 110 octane WILL NOT give you any more power to your car. Higher octane lowers your risk of detonation (BAD thing) and when you run a custom tune, changes are made in your system that put your car at greater risk for detonation, i.e. a/f, timing, rpm, etc., etc, The more stress you put on your stock system, the higher octane you will need to decrease the chance of detonation. NOTE: I said DECREASE, not elliminate. If you are running a tune that recommends 93 octane - THEN USE IT. it is recommending for a reason. If you have your car custom tuned, your tuner should be able to tell you what octane you need to run with each tune or he isn't worth a damn.

I'll make it short and sweet. You can gain some hp running 93 over 87 if you advance your timing up a few points. Your stock timing is set for maximum efficiency on 87 octane fuel. 93 octane fuel allows you to bump your timing for maximum efficiency, and you'll pick up a few horses in the process.
