Default Some silly and some serious questions.

Hey guys, im still trying to get the hang of things around here, so if i trip a little just kick me softly and ill stand. Ok, On to the questions!...

1)Arent the 05+ mustangs assembled in Mexico? If not where are they made?

2)What is the overall reliability of the manual GT's? Ive read in past consumer reports and web sites that in general V6 stangs are less reliable. (i also read about tammijoe's post about her ecu problems...yikes!)

3)Does anyone tune the stangs strickly in the suspension and wheels (In other words, handling wise)? I think it's already more than adequate in power

4)whats up with the smileys here?

5)Does anyone with a manual GT here have gran turismo 4? Does the game portray the car accurately, the way it sounds, handles, accelarates? I noticed the car kind of hard to launch with traction control off, also it handles extremely well, neutral with little to no understeer...in the game. Basically is the digital version of the Stang GT a good indication of what to expect? I hear BMW is using Gran Turismo 4 at dealerships for customers to "preview" thier cars??

6)Anyone else think Wadatai is full of the stuff from his anus?

7)I was offered $26,670 for a 06 manual GT premium, is this a good price? I didnt buy it or even consider it (although i led the poor dealership guy on) because i havent saved up enough yet...but what would be a good price range for a 06 manual GT premium with the machined aluminum wheels and interior upgrade package?

These questions are geared toward my decision for future purchase of an awsome manual GT, well except the few silly questions. Any info would help, thanx guys.

Just outside their original (for 40 years) production plant in Dearborne, Michigan. Forget the name of the exact city.

2)What is the overall reliability of the manual GT's? Ive read in past consumer reports and web sites that in general V6 stangs are less reliable. (i also read about tammijoe's post about her ecu problems...yikes!)
Very good if you don't grind them out. The V6 trannies tend to be less than beefy.

3)Does anyone tune the stangs strickly in the suspension and wheels (In other words, handling wise)? I think it's already more than adequate in power
There are a few, but the 4.6 responds so well to minor mods...

4)whats up with the smileys here?
Good question. Someone was stoned, I think.

5)Does anyone with a manual GT here have gran turismo 4? Does the game portray the car accurately, the way it sounds, handles, accelarates? GT4 assumes you keep the stock 8inch wide wheels... The cars don't spin quite so badly IRL.

6)Anyone else think Wadatai is full of the stuff from his anus?
And a few other things, too.

7)I was offered $26,670 for a 06 manual GT premium, is this a good price? Any time you pay sticker or less for a GT you get lucky. Most dealers have a 1K-15K markup on the GTs.

Im sure you guys know well more than i do, but i swear i saw "location of final assembly: mexico" on the sticker of a GT and Sandysprings Ford. I dunno, maybe i'm on crack

GGIII,

So you're saying assuming the stang is wearing the stock rubber then it's a perfect representation in GT4? If that's so, GOOD GRAVY i am horrifcally impressed. Sh*t, sign me up for a manual GT NOW! I've ridden in an S2000 on The Dragon (Deals Gap), and ide have to say GT4 is spot on in that certain car. BTW to anyone who thinks I'm ridiculous judging a car based on a video game, get over it [ill argue with you all day]. Gran Turismo has been perfecting thier physics engine over the years and claims to be friggin accurate.

It's pretty accurate. The GTs have alot of wheel spin in them. The Automatic's torque converters (+Torque Management system) hold back our awesome burnouts, though.\

[Edit:] I've never taken a really high speed corner in the car, so I don't know much about it's neutrality. But I think you'll be pleasantly suprised with the GT's power output.

The long and the short of it is that Mustangs have been assembled all over the world...Peru, Venezuela, Mexico and I believe that in the 60's there were some built somewhere in the Netherlands.

As recently as 2000, the transmissions were being built in Mexico.

As wonderful as it is to be patriotic, corporate patriotism is selling out to profit margin. Companies are wrapping itself in the flag shouting "Buy American!", while at the same time offshoring as much business as possible, laying off blue and white collar workers.

Now that's real!!!

As an industry insider enthused in a very well written article:

"'Buy American' is a difficult position to explain nowadays, because there is no such thing as a purely American made car. Our "domestic" automotive companies are all multinational behemoths, with divisions, plants, suppliers, customers and shareholders scattered over the globe."

Hell, 70% of Accord and Civic employ domestic parts content. I find that interesting.

To Ford's credit, they are building the Stang almost exclusively in Flat Rock, MI. But they are under pressure and thinking of moving the Stang assembly plant elsewhere because labor is considerably cheaper, overhead is less and profit margin will be greater. The article below details this move:

http://www.theoaklandpress.com/stori...50122016.shtml

The '06 Ford Fusion and Lincoln Zephyr are being built in Mexico already.

GM might as well be considered an import considering that many of there cars are built in Mexico or Canada, GM Daewoo is now in on Chevy design and development and they are considering employing Chinese and Korean parts for some of their vehicles.

Oh and that Wadatai cat....Sheesh.

hahaha, i know it sounds silly but no.

I test drove it at a dealership (a manual GT) and fell in love with the thrust, prior to driving it in GT4. I mean handling is not a huge concern but i frequent The Dragon (Deals Gap) near the border of Tennessee and South Carolina and ide like to know this beast is not all power.

Besides, Gran Turismo is basically CAD simulation based on vehicle weight, tire size, profile, spring rate, weight distr and a million other factors. Jeremy Clarkson even wrote an article about it http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/art...722790,00.html ...so basing car buying decision on a computer simulated program is not all ridiculous.
