20 wheels are they ok for 05-06 mustangs?

I used to think the 20's we're a joke, but after seeing them on some rides, I admit they don't look bad and aren't crazy big for the car. I still prefer adjusting your suspension to get the fit you want with some 18's - but that's just me and most of the cars posted here look pretty good so whatever floats your boat I suppose.
Birdie makes a good point though about wheel options being more abundant for the 19's and if you ever do want to consider using a drag radial for race, you are going to run into problems finding a tires/rims to match.

You can use 20" rims if you like. As you can see, there are many people doing it. I don't know how much it will affect your ride quality though.
I myself think 20" rims do look rice and do not match the retro look of the Mustang, but to each his own.
I don't care for lowering the car either, but that is just my opinion.
There are a lot of expensive forged wheels that I would never put on my car because they belong on a Nissan and not a Ford. If we all like the same look that would really be boring!!!

These cars were built for 20s just like the the 99-04s are begging for 18s as long as you aren't worried about losing .004 seconds in your 1/4 time lol. 20s are Perfect for the new body style as long as it is dropped as well.

The idea, form a performance standpoint, is to reduce the unsprung weight, so doing a weight comparison of the various wheel/tire combinations is important. There is also an issue with the weight being further from the center of rotation with bigger wheels. All decisions are a compromise to some extent, you just need to decide how to balance the compromises. Cars that do this well are faster then those who don't do it so well. From a show car perspective it is really all about esthetics and what you like to look at. Figure out where you are at and have fun. [sm=smiley2.gif]

Yea, I'd agree. It's all in what you want. I personally would stay under 20 just because of tire expense and lack of options. But if want 'em, go for it. It depends on the styling though. Most of the 20's that members have pictured on this thread look really good....but i have seen a couple of over the top 20's on the road that just do not go on a mustang. I also agree with chevykiller, stay with 18s if you're a regular track runner. But don't fear the 20's if you really want them, they do work on the new bodies quite well.
