Exhaust & Stripes question

RE: Exhaust & Stripes question
If your looking into buying the borlas, borla makes an axle- back muffler system for Ford racing thats identical to their own axle-back system, except that it says ford racing on the tips instead of borla. It's not too expensive, but it's only axle-back.

Hey dood, what is the model number of the one you own right now? Give me the model number and hte price you paid. Man, I love the sound. From what I "hear" the loudmouths are just that.. LOUD and OBNOXIOUS but your borlas suit my taste.... it sounds like a beast but at hte same time, i won't wake up the neighbors or have cops pull me over. I could be wrong as these are just videos.. .so you tell me.

RE: Exhaust & Stripes question
If you're going to have any hope of installing the exhaust yourself you're going to want an AXLE-BACK system. All it does is replace the mufflers and is fairly easy to do. The picture silverpoison provided has those two extra long pipes and the two mufflers (cat-back) and the one on ebay has just the mufflers (axle-back). Note that if you go with the Borla axle-back it won't sound near the same what it sounds like in those videos. Going with the cat-back will run you around $700 and a bitch to install yourself.
When it comes down to it
Axle-back= great sound with very little performance for a pretty cheap price
Cat-back= better sound with better performance for a hefty price (unless of course you're trying to build a mean GT)
Oh, and bottom line, if you're going for sound, go with the SLP. Itz da bomb!

This is a small clip of my Borla set-up in action. Bear in mind I'm on my street tune and have the rev limiter set low so it isn't as mean as the race tune.

Here's a clip at the track on the race tune...

I fully intend to get the entire setup from Borla which costs as low as around 680 from some sites I've visisited. As for the LOUD factor, I dont really want a LOUD exhaust.. just mean sounding with some OOHMPH.... u know?

RE: Exhaust & Stripes question
Sorry, I should have mentioned that is with a little more than just Borlas. That is also jba long tubes with a custom H-pipe and roush tips. (no cats)
As far as your tune question, with either diablo or SCT, you are going to be able to hold multiple tunes in your programmer. Most use one tune for street and a different tune for race that can be switched easily in minutes inside the car. You really don't need your car '***** out' all the time on the street so it's wise to have 2 tunes. If you come across a street race, you can easily switch over to your race tune if you have to. RPM is what blows up engines so most people keep a street tune keeping close to the factory rev limiter settings (6200 rpm) and then bump up the rev limiter for their race tune. (mine is 7000 rpm for race). The higher the rpm, the higher the whine and noice level with your car and that's why my car sounds louder on the race tune. It's really nothing more than the engine being able to rev higher.
Edit - and remember, there are no dumb questions on this forum - just dumb answers... LOL
