Partshopper Rear Blackout Review

Partshopper Rear Blackout Review
Wrote this review for another site, and thought it might be of use here as well.
After looking at various rear blackout options for my 2006 Mustag GT, I finally settled on this product.
This is the only one I have found that deletes the fake gas cap.
I ordered the panel, with the option of the GT badge, on December 30, 2005.
I received it on January 11, 2006.
Pretty fast delivery in my opinion.
The install was quick and painless.
Heated up the fake gas cap with a blow dryer, after masking off a small area on either side of it, as per the instructions.
Once it was warm, worked a wooden shim under it, and slowly pryed it up.
The masking tape protected my paint.
The fake cap is held on by a large amount of adhesive, as well as having two small posts that go into holes in the body.
Cleaned all of the adhesive off, and prepped the area with rubbing alcohol, to make sure it was clean.
I opted to cover the two holes in the trunk with electrical tape, but you may wish to use plugs, silicone, etc.
The blackout comes with 3m tape already applied, unlike some other mods I have purchased, where I had to apply the tape myself. This was nice.
Peeled the backing on the tape back about two inches, just enough to be able to let it stick a little while I lined it up.
I also opted to place the little black plastic circle (included) around my lock, to blackout that small area.
I placed the panel on the trunk, centering it, then peeled the rest of the tape of, and pressed it firmly in place.
Done!
I have seen this piece one other place, for about $30.00 more. I see no reason to pay the extra cost, do you?
You can get one where I did, at:

RE: Partshopper Rear Blackout Review
Looks good but you definitely got to get rid of the Seachickens license plate frame... that's total rice. This would be better.

RE: Partshopper Rear Blackout Review
You did a nice job on this and took a good methodical approach to the install. It's just my opinion that follows so don't take offense; everyone has their taste.
I'm mostly not one for adding things on, I'm inclined to take-away and in this case I have welded in the fake gas cap holes and lock hole. Car is in the paint shop today for that section and other mods to be painted, but there is a nice example out in the forum (see pic). Your approach looks like approx $200 w/shipping. I think you could find a reputable shop that would do that one rectangular section of the decklid for around $300-$400 painted in black or your body color. JMO.

No offense taken.
It's your opinion, and I value that.
The cost with shipping for mine was $171.95
Would have been a little cheaper without the Gt badge.
I'm sure I could get the rear filled and painted for about what you quoted, but for me, this was a nice option.
Quick, painless, inexpensive.
And now I can spend the savings on other things.
