Default What do you think is wrong?????

Last couple of weeks my car has been doing some strange things regarding fuel. First off it won't take gas, it shuts the pump off every gallon like it is full but it isn't. The second problem is when below a 1/4 tank the car is very jerky and feels like it is out of gas when it is not. It also does not want to accelerate below a 1/4 tank of gas. I am thinking a new gas tank and a new fuel pump. What are your thoughts? Any help would be appreciated.

It's just the TSB issue. It's a fuel vent issue, once it gets low the tank is pulling vaccuum. Try opening the gas cap and putting it back on to get by until you get it to the dealer for replacement.

I think Ghost is right on the under 1/4 tank part of it. As far as the fill up goes, you probably won't get this problem from every pump. Try turning the nozzle counter-clockwise and it should help. I've just about got it down to a science, I don't fill up on pumps 12 and 7 at QT, or pump 3 at the BP Amoco. If it is a fast pump your more likely to have problems with the filling.

I don't think many dealers will replace your tank at this point, unless you have an early 05.

Build date on mine is sep of 2004. It has 16K. It goes to the shop on monday. The filling up issue is anywhere I go at any pump I use. I am not to worried about it. The car runs alright as long as I keep it above a 1/4 tank. It will be fixed soon anyways. Thanks for the help guys!
