Yea, I just put springs on mine and was kind of blown away at the amount of rust. Pull a wheel and look at the hats on the disk brakes as well as any clips that hold pieces in place. Seems that if it is hidden from view it is rust prone. I was thinking about POR15 on the rear end. Prof Wizrd, what did you use?

Hmmm....this brings up an insteresting fact. In Las Vegas that offer a Desert Package (all dealerships) which give the paint a protectant from the severe heat. Can't they do the same for rust/cold?

Curious about the Ziebart undercoating - do they spray EVERYTHING (such as exhuast, suspension, tranny, oil pan etc) or only the actual under carriage? I would like to see my undercarraige, drive shaft and rear axel done in that nice looking black under coating - but not my suspension and other mentioned parts. So will the take the time to the proper masking, and what is a typical cost of this?

ughh, I know what you are feeling. But no one really ever sees that part of the car anyway.

I should have painted mine right away

10 days after having still looked good

cant undercoat the driveshaft- balance...suggest etch rust, then just spraypaint it.
Axle- just etch/brush on POR-15, it will last forever-normal spraypaint will likely get chipped up...could always spray areas back in corners(like around control arm bushings if you dont want to unbolt), that are too hard to reach using like a wd-40 straw, then just let it drip off/wipe excess and brush some por15 on everything else. If using metalprep/'ospho' phosphoric acid to etch, just rinse really really well, and again to make sure its neutralized- then if its fully dry the por15 will basically NEVER come off.
Its supposed to get nice out tomorrow, hope to get my other fender back on today- going thru mustang withdrawl
