Default RUST

I picked up my 2006 in mid November and have only had it out a few times, last week I was having new snow tires installed and had a look underneath when the car was on the hoist and couldn't believe my eyes. The whole rear axle and shock mounts etc. was red with rust. Apparently Ford doesn't paint the rear end any more. It looked horrible..........anyone else have that experience? What a disappointment to see that on a new car.

Yep.. that's normal oxidation. Same goes with the pulley on the crank.

When I went to have my tires switched out I noticed all the rust. Really disapointed. How much could it cost to powercoat down there? I guess too much for Ford.

a 300hp performance vehicle for $26K. Yeah, they cut some corners. Might as well complain about the crappy interior while you're at it.

The first week I owned mine I ran to a "Lift For Rent" garage and raised her up and painted everything underneath. I had already learned that ford didn't paint under there and I wanted to try to prevent some of the rusting.

How much did it cost you? When I got my mangaflows on, I didn't notice any rust (yet). Then again, I was only under there for 15 seconds or so. I'd like to take the same preventive measures.

I had my whole undercarriage sprayed with rust-proofing from a local company when I got it.
