Default RE: Fanblade wheels

ORIGINAL: Sulley

I have been shopping for an '06 GT and found one today that has all of the options I am looking for except that it has the fanblade wheels. To be honest I never really liked them in photos I have seen but after seeing them in person on a black '06 GT I am changing my mind a little. Just curious what others think of the 18" fanblade wheels.

The car I drove today with the 18" wheels felt quite a bit stiffer than ones with 17" wheels. I am sure a lot of that is because I was alone during the test drive today and other times the sales guy and my daughter were with me. I keep seeing mention of a "unique suspension" on the GTs with 18" wheels. Anyone have more info on that? I have searched the forums but have not found anything. In fact I can't get any search results on anything.

Thanks and I hope to be a Mustang owner by this time next week
I actually tried to order my Vista Blue '06 with the Bullit style 18"s but that would have delayed the car further so I took a long look at the "Fanblade" 18's and didn't like them at all in pictures, then I saw a Black GT optioned like my order except it had the fanblades and bought the car on the spot. I can affirm the 18"s get a different calibration than the Mustang GT with 17's.

I have yet to get the actual differences explained however, I doubt its a big change but you can feel it if you go from one car to another.

I've got the 17" upgrade rims on my 05 GT but would take the 18" fanblades in a heartbeat!

I hated the fanblades at first, but they are growing on me. I wanted the bullits bad, but i took what I could get without having to special order it. I actually get a lot of compliments on them.

Wanted the 18 bullits, but the 18 fanblades looked great in person, went with those and have loved them.

Sulley:

I was a gradual convert to the blades, but they really are unique (I've been watching for three months in SoCal to see what they look like moving, no luck so far). OTOH, Bullit style wheels are quite easy to find. I hope you really enjoy your new ride.

Your comments on a stiffer suspension are interesting, as is the question by tdappleman. I've asked some questions about the suspension changes for the 18 inch wheel change over and no one has any details (yet). The standard convertible has a looser suspension than the coupe. I know that my GT is a bit stiffer than the V6 'Vert I drove (my GT experience was too short for use in a comparison). Still, it wouldn't surprise me to learn 'Vert owners had some oddball addition or change.

First time I saw the fan blades they were alone in a photo, not on the car. I thought they were hideous in the photo, but when I saw them in person on a Satin Silver GT I liked them. I'm not sure I'd like them as much on any other color though.

Love my blades. I could have gone with the bullits, but IMO the blades for the 06 are more unique.

DUDE, there's probably 100,000 Mustang owners in the U.S. that want to know how to get the license plate holder you have!!![:-] Everyone, notice how it isn't DRILLED into the fascia!

I love my blades also. They really set the whole car off in my opinion. [sm=shades.gif]
