They just called me and told me they're going to send UPS to pick up my SCT X-cal 2 so they can program new tunes into it. Since there was a little problem (running a little too rich) they had with their tune on 2006 Manual GTs w/ manual trans, and he said there's better throttle response with the new tune...

They said the problem was only on 2006 Mustang GT Manuals...

 

That's strange considering they could just load the new tunes on their site for you to download. The X-Cal2 can be updated via PC right?

 

Agreed, Brent from Brenspeed has E-mailed me several tune variations and I just simply load them to my X-cal.

He said a guy called and told him his check engine light on came on, they diagnosed the problem, and said it came out too rich.. so he called everyone that bought an SCT w/ 06 GT Manual and told them to send it back.. weird..

 

Yeah he could do that but he doesnt email tunes, i asked him a few times with no luck

 

Yep, he told me that he had a problem with people giving away his tunes that he emailed out (internet distribution problem), so he doesn't email tunes out anymore.

I was reading on SCT's forum that there is a new format for the tunes that can be serialized to the X-Cal unit. I was going to call Brent and ask him if he's started doing that yet.

What would be better is if he had a link to them on his site with your SCT s/n so that you could use a userID and password to down load them to your SCT only.

 

Yeah that was my tuner that he was talking about mine still isn't working right. He said that mine was the first one to have problems. Brent at brenspeed.com is a great guy he has gotten all my business through all of this just because of his helpfulness.

 

Actually not all 5 speeds, just 06 GT 5 speeds with the C&L on a handfull of cars programmed over a certain period of time. I found out Friday night what the issue was and called everybody Saturday. This happened after one of our softwares updates but it is fixed now. What I found was the software automatically adjusted our air fuel ratio rich in some areas of the curve. Other areas it did not affect. So what would happen is the car would run richer than what I want at some RPM's. Rather than leave the Xcal2's like that I called everybody to have UPS pick them up so I could recalibrate them.

As for e-mailing yes that was stopped a long time ago. 4 months ago I requested SCT lock the e-mail programs to the Xcal2 vin numbers so I could e-mail. This was before user adjustable files were even e-mail able. They said it was a good idea and they would toss the idea around. I had not heard back from them that was possible but usually SCT does not send out notifications on updates. They just do it and we find out surfing the SCT forum or from a customer. Believe it or not a huge % of my customers dont want to deal with downloading and I dont really blame them.
