Default Removing "Pre-Cat Converter"

Hi all, new to the site, love my GT.

From Brenspeeds website... "The new Mustang has a device in the intake track that’s what we call a “Pre-Catalytic Converter”. This device catches vapors that are emitted from the engine after it’s been running and is then shut off. Just after a hot engine has been turned off they can emit unburned fuel from the intake track. This device absorbs those vapors and stores them until the engine is started again, then letts the stored vapors get sucked back into the engine to be burned off. Removing this alone was worth about 4-5 RWHP"

Has anyone removed this thing? Seems like it would make the car breath better. Any safety/warranty issues? I'd like to get that 5 rwhp while I think about the C&L intake and xcal2.

Thanks,

PC

This has been discussed 3.97 zillion times. Ford stopped putting them in. Take it out if it's in there.

Took mine out too. Maybe a gain there maybe not, I couldn't tell.

It's been a while since I've seen a thread about it - that's probably why you don't see them in the search results. For a while, it seemed like every other thread was about it lol.

Suffice it to say, it's safe to take it out.

Welcome to the board, btw. [8D]

Took mine out day 2, didn't notice any difference, but my stock dyno run (without it in) came to 264 rwhp, add the 16% drivetrain loss on a manual, and I have a 306 hp engine. Either I got a better than average engine out of the factory, or it really does add some hp's taking it out.
