Default Prepaid Maintenance

Just bought an '06 Mustang and am considering a prepaid maintenance package through the dealer. Standard stuff, oil changes, tire rotations, etc, every 5k miles. Ford site quotes $815 for 36k miles, 36mos.
Anyone use this? Anyone find a better price? Thanks!

I signed up for prepaid maintenance and wish I hadn't. The salesman lied to me about the cost of various types of service and how often they're needed.

If you don't have the skill set or tools, then think about it. If you fully trust your dealer's ervic area, then think about it. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty twice a year, then do it yourself.

1) if they already have your money, what is their incentive to treat you like gold? And,

2) What if you decide that they are a bunch of incompetent fools and choose to go elsewhere?

3) If you really don't want to do it yourself (which will save you time and money), then Jiffy lube is $25 a pop (unless you go Mobil 1; will the dealer use Mobil 1?), and rotations are $20. Every 5k for 36K miles is less than $815.

As a general rule I prefer competition and the free market and never prepay anything.

$815 for 3 years? That seems pretty steep, if you are in twice a year thats about $125 per visit - an oil change normally runs about $25. Be carefully, my dealer tried to sell me an extended warrantee for $2000, luckily I turned it down, then did some research after the purchase, and found out that I could buy a policy for about $1000.
