launch techniques
anybody have any ideas on launching techniques for an 05 mustang GT 5 speed? if i floor it after just letting out the clutch normally the engine kind of bogs, any ideas on how to get a good launch? by the way im a noob so yea haha
I just got mine but I had an '03 before.
It's winter now so I haven't been to the track yet but this car doesn't seem to bog as much as my '03 did.
Either put in higher (numerically) gears or do what I do and hold it in the powerband with the clutch. It's hard on the clutch but that's how it's done dude.

Hehe, I do similar to what you do to minimize tire spin. I just give it extra gas, let the clutch kick, then drop the pedal. Most cars out there wont keep up with you (if you have a GT) anyway. Just raced some kid in his parents brand new Lexus LS 300. The kid got smashed

MikeHawke: 4:10's would make a big difference on launch, yes? My 06 GT in not a daily driver and here in the Northeast the roads are so bad in the winter that I wouldn't do more than a short drive on a clear day right now. So for me I probably won't put 6k on a year, so I'm seriously thinking of 4:10's. I don't need to go over 65-70 for routine highway cruisin and mpg isn't an issue. I'm thinking it's a good mod. I know there are threads out there on gears, just curious at to your comments. Thanks, Jim
