iPod Connector for the Aux out of a Shaker 500
Anyone found a good quality iPod connector that fits the data out socket (Aux button) of the Shaker hi-fi? I think it will have to convert the data port to a phono out....sorry if this has been covered before!

I know a lot of people complain about FM transmitters with their iPods, but I've never had an issue with mine. Sometimes I need to change the frequency when traveling between Baltimore and D.C., but it's not a big deal to me. Plus my unit charges the iPod at the same time. Take a look at Amazon.com to read the reviews on a few units. It was worth it to me not to have to take apart the dash, etc.

Sounds good. But do you loose the use of the CD player with this unit? If not exactly how hard is it to install?

I've had the PIE adapter linked above since september and it works great. It is far superior to any of the fm transmitters I have tried.

No you can still use the cd player. I have P.I.E. and converted the phono plugs to a 1/8" jack and mounted it in my dash to the right of my radio. You can pul anything into it that has a headphone output.

The caption below is from the 2006 Ford Accessories catalog, I haven't used the trip tunes but it is supposed to be compatible with our shaker sound systems.

iRiver,® ScanDisk,® etc.), plus portable CD and
cassette players, right to your in-dash radio.
Just plug your player into the harness – a 3.5mm

I use the PIE connector it works great. I attached a cable and ran it out of the center console, where it is out of view when not in use.
I have heard that the triptunes adapter in the Ford catalog is not actually available, or so my delaer told me.

OK, the plug i bought at radio shack $3. I bought a 3 ft stereo phono cable $4 and cut one end off and soldered the wires to the plug (5 minutes). the other end goes into the P.I.E. adapter which is behind the console out of sight and out of reach.
I drilled a hole in the dash and, using the supplied nut with the plug, just screwed it to the dash. (the plug is threaded and the nut goes on from the front). It was easier than it looks. Now I can plug anything into it that has a headphone output (mp3 player, portable DVD, whatever)
The dask kit I got online. I forgot what website but they're plentiful. Just peel and stick like all the others. I forgot the brand of the dashkit but I'm quite sure it started with an S. It'll come to me eventually.
