Default need advice

i have a 06 v6 stock with most of the factory options. i have been saving up money for performance upgrades, and have about $800. however, my dad just informed me that i can't do anything to make the car go faster. i would appreciate any input on mods that would make the car more fun/cool, because i can't make it faster.

thx in advance

p.s. i also considered doing them behind his back, but then id have to explain a lot and lie and dont think it would be worth it

haha same situation as me

what you can do are put some simple discrete mods on
go for an intake and tune, that will cost you about $600 for a good one (check ebay for this shop that sells a C&L and xcal2)
you can go with the throttle body spacer for about $60
also, if you want to be really discrete about it you can just get a retune so there is visally nothing different in the car (even when the hood is up) which would cost you about $400 (the best place i hear to get it from for the v6 is called Alternative Auto Performance...google it for their site)
also, if you want to go for something cheaper, you can get the AFE intake wich offers pretty good gains with no tune, that will cost about $200

if you save up a bit more you can go with gears and tlok, the gear will cost you not more than $500, but the installation labor is pretty high ( i was quoted $800)

just a little pointer, you may want to post these type of v6 specific questions in the 4.0 section, you may get a bit better answers there and a bit less flame from the few GTers that are just like that (but most of them are very nice)

Uh, he asked for DISCRETE mods! What do you think dear old Dad's gonna say when he opens the hood and sees the CAI with the huge airfilter out there for everyone to see?
And spending $400 for a tuner for just a few HP isn't too smart. Plus voiding your warranty is something you should do when your father isn't the one making payments! Either on the car or for your insurance.
Your best bet is to see what kind of suspension upgrades you can afford. New, lower springs, struts, rods, sway bars. Maybe rims too. That will give you a better handling car, which any father would prefer over more HP.

Presentation is everything. The C&L intake with SCT2 tuner doesn't make the car go faster, the driver does when he pushes on the accelerator. The combo will: improve idle smoothness, eliminate potentially dangerous acceleration lag when you are pulling out into traffic, it will improve overall efficency of the engine, maybe even fuel economy. It's all how you spin it.

K&N factory replacement filter may give you a little more, without being noticeable. Also try little things like shorty antaenna, axleback exhaust (wich really doesn't add any power by itself, but does make the car sound better), Stripes if you want them. Perhaps audio upgrades.

Decide where you want to go with your car. If you can't make it faster, you need to have some dirction before you go slapping every accessory you can find on the car, that just looks tacky.
