My commute is all of 10 mins, so that really isnt too much of a concern. Ill be moving out of the area within the next year or so anyhow. But, point well taken and I am sure my test drive will make the decision easier. I hope.

I do live in Northern Virginia and will be driving this thing to work everyday during the fairer seasons. (will probably reserve the Jeep for Winter) It would be an adjustment, but I am sure I would love actually "driving" my vehicle.......

XJGirl,

If you ever drive NOVA or DC traffic during rush hour don't even consider a manual...do yourself a favor and get the auto and tune it. Trust me, 6 years of driving the DC Beltway with four manuals...you don't want to do it.

What is the stock gearing in the 06 GT auto? I have orderd a CAI with SCT tuner from Brenspeed and I hope I am happy with the firmer shifts on the auto. Stock is sluggish.

It is not 3.23s, 05+ GT autos have 3.31s stock.

I got the manual, like it a lot. Some things I like are that you can hit the clutch and rev it up when you want attention (or someone to get out of your way), and tha you can really feel the power when you drop the clutch after that 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd shifts.

One of the things I don't like so much is that it is hard to do a brake stand. An auto would be better for brake stands.

my only complaint is that it is a bizznach to fill the gas tank up in a quick fashion, or at all in that matter, my car is going in for service tomorrow since i can't put more then 3/4 of a tank in!

Having a manual trans. keeps a lot of bad drivers from wanting to drive your car. The conversation is like this: buddy "can I drive your car?" Me "Its a 5 spd and you cant drive it anyway." You will love this car. It looks good and goes fast, plus I have been averaging 23 mpg on the highway, about 18 in town. If you get an 06 gt you should be good, I think Ford has worked out the little things that were off in 05 ie. popping sound from the ball joints and fuel tank vacuum problems.

What's your build date? That was supposed to be fixed on anything after 4/26/05 according to the TSB.
