Gas Cap

Gas Cap
Is it just me or do any other of you mustang owners have trouble putting the gas cap back on? The tether seems to be too short and I have to fight to get the cap aligned straight to screw it back on.[sm=dontgetit.gif]

RE: Gas Cap
I asked for a locking cap at the auto parts store and they said they don't have any yet. It would be nice if Ford sold one that you could get keyed to your ignition key. I'm much more concerned with someone putting something in the tank than stealing gas.

RE: Gas Cap
If I'm parked away from home for more than an hour or so I usually cover my car. This discourages morons from keying my car or putting something in the gas tank. I was surprised that Ford didn't have internal gas cover door release. I guess this is another cost savings benefit for Ford.

The question is does anyone have a locking gas cap? I'm so paranoid about some one stealing my gas or putting something in my tank.

RE: Gas Cap
The Stant number for the locking gas cap is 10510. Ive had one for almost a year and it even is made so you can use the stock lanyard. I dont remember where online I got it, so you will have to troll around a bit. I was more concerned about what some arsehole would put IN the tank, and not about the gas gettin stole!

I ordered what was supposed to be the Stant cap -10510, and the center lock part slid out (poorly made), it didn't feel like it fit correctly, and I couldn't figure out how to get the lanyard (leash) off the stock fuel cap and onto the Stant! So I sold it on Ebay for $30 to a guy in Canada!
I would like to get the locking door replacment but have it painted body color. I don't think Billet aluminum or chrome is the right look for me. Which finish would handle paint the best to look like the stock fuel door?
