ipod hookup
well, i was looking into buying that PIE unit for $100.00, when i thought to myself... well for that much i can scrap the skipper and get a new ipod ready deck. I searched around crutchfield and bestbuy and only found that there was one brandless radio that actualy came with the hookup in the deck instead of buying it sepratly like the $350 radios. But i was thinking to myself when i stumbled across this one... "well its $90 and brandless... could this be worse than the skipper?" which is the question i pose to you all.

the skipper has an auxilary button and the connection in the back to directly connect it to the stock stereo....it would seem to be the least invasive option, and probably sound the best too. if you can deal with the skipper, i would suggest trying it.

My car was made in June 2005 and I bought it in June 2005 and I have the Shaker 500. I hear about how many people had problems with theirs.
I've been playing mine everyday since the day I bought my Stang and had never experience a problem with it. I even play mp3 cds that I even burned and never experience a tad bit of a problem. I even tagged my mp3 files to show the name of the song and name of the artist to display on the screen.

kenwood and pioneer make decks ipod ready. all you need is rca cables that run from the rear of the deck to the ipod. might have to make a hole in the mounting kit ot put it in the glove box. there is also ipod interfaces available. you use the receiver to control your ipod. cost anywhere from $50-100. check ebay.
Do you have an iPod, or a different MP3 player? The unit you found uses an RCA pin. The install I had done uses the 32 pin plug so I can use the plug-in at the bottom of the iPod. The advantage? The iPod gets charged while in use. If I ever change MP3 player brands (doubtful) I can remove the iPod adapter and go back to the RCA pin.
As far as the Shaker... received the car in April, replaced the Shaker in September (it swallowed a couple of CDs) and have had no problems since then. I'm real satisfied with the system, enough power to handle interstate speeds with the top down - that's all I need.

i think you read my question wrong, or i stated it incorrectly. what i was trying to find out was would a new stereo be a better option then going with the PIE unit (so it plugs the ipod into the skipper) since they're the same price.
i do have an ipod (video)

iPod video with a Shaker? I'd do the PIE with the Blitzsafe... but I'm already set up and happy.
Even if you purchased the iPlug system, I would think you'd still want the Blitzsafe adapter.. it charges the iPod for those long road trips (without an additional cord hanging off the bottom)... but that's just my 2 cents...
