I've got them on my black bullit rims. I like them. I'm sure others will not.

I have a 2005 V6 with 17" GT premium split spoke wheels to which I have added the spinners with Pony centers. As you said, some will like (I hope!) and others will not.

i hated those things at first, but they came with my car so i left them on (like the strpie) and grew to like both! Thouhg the stripes commin off soon..

I think they look right at home on the 5 spoke wheels, but I wont buy a set as Ive heard of too many factory ones getting stolen(guess they just pull off) and heard some aftermarket bolt on ones might lead the theiving fools to try and pry them off getting them nowhere, but leaving you with damaged wheel.
I'm wanting to turn up a set of round ones to replace my stockers, just havent decided what to mill into the face to personalize them...

Here they are on my stock GT 17" Bullits.
I like them and they are much better than the stock "Ford" caps!
I did lose one... whether it was to theft or just an aggressive speed bump, i don't know. I went and etched my license plate number in all 4!

I'm basically waiting for the stripe to start to peel or come off in any way, shape, or form, and then I will just have them removed.

I do like the spinners. I originally had the blue oval Ford ones, but after losing one to a curb I replaced them with a set of the pony spinners and I think I like them more.
