SHAKER HOOD QUESTIONS
I was wondering if could use a cold air intake with the CDC Shaker system? Also, it states on CDC's web site that there is already some kind of factory "stamping" on the underside of the hood to aid in installation. Is this true? If i get this setup i want to install it myself. Thanks

RE: SHAKER HOOD QUESTIONS
I would have to do some digging...
But the answer is YES... a few people engineered the Shaker to work with a CAI. Pretty much by modifying the CAI Intake Shroud to allow the flow tube from the Shaker to port to it.
Mind you - the Shaker is designed as a Closed - Ram Air system - modifying for a CAI you will lose the presurized function, but - it will ensure you getting the coolest air possible to your CAI intake.

RE: SHAKER HOOD QUESTIONS
PW, what i am basically looking for is the look of the shaker system and the HP gains from a CAI. The shaker system itself is only a few more horses right? I'm not really clear on what you mean by modifying the intake shroud. Could you elaborate a little more on that? Thanks

RE: SHAKER HOOD QUESTIONS
Hey Prof, Did you notice any gains from just the CDC? I like the look of the shanker so I have ben thinking of putting it in, but also wanted a little performance upgrade too (Yeah, I will be getting a predator, but I was looking for that in addition to a CAI)

I can't Dyno the Shaker - - because it is a "RAM AIR" system.. That is, you have to be moving above 40mph before you get any true gain. All I can state is I can definately FEEL the difference and my highway milage increased about 2mpg after installing mine. Another cool thing is because I have a Convertible... you can HEAR the engine sucking air through the throttlebore under WOT - like the older cars when you flip the aircleaner lid updside down.

Here are a couple of photos of a guy who modified his shaker with a CAI system...

RE: SHAKER HOOD QUESTIONS
That looks great! What is that tube that runs from the CAI heat shield to the back of the shaker shroud? Does this come with the shaker system or was this something that had to be custom made? What is the function of this?

RE: SHAKER HOOD QUESTIONS
Unless I"m looking at it wrong, it looks like he just installed the CAI to the shaker intake as kind of a "two prong" inlet setup. Basicly, the engine would be pulling air from the CAI like it would normally.....then at highway speeds the shaker system opens up and injects some extra air.

RE: SHAKER HOOD QUESTIONS
Hmmm.... interesting. It doesn't seem like too many people on here have done this combo. I would like to get a hold of the guy who has done this and get all the specifics. I'm really curious!
