Default Search Feature

Moderators,

Are we ever going to get the search feature working? There is a ton a very valuable information being exchanged on this board everyday and it's incredibly frustrating to not be able to search for particular threads. I know no one likes to see the same question asked a thousand different times, but until we have a way to search for past threads we don't have much of a choice.

Please, please, please fix the search feature. [sm=helpout.gif]

I am trying to find some info on "Dash Rattle" which I have read about on this forum before, but search can't find it. It is agrivating not being able to use the search and get results.

I get it to work for me by messing around with the search parameters a little bit. Try just limiting the search to topics instead of both topics and replies. Doing stuff like that helps out a lot...plus if you narrow it down to the topics you won't get a hundred matches from the same thread.

But just to be clear, it's not that I'm getting too many results, I get zero results. As an example I tried to search on the word exhaust and got nothing. So then I tried SLP (which we all know there have been a billion threads about) and still got nothing. With the hundreds of threads created everyday trying to go back and locate a specific thread manually is very difficult.

I appreciate the reponse and will try your suggestion of limiting the search criteria down even further. Hopefully this will at least work as a bandaid for now.

Yeah, I know the problem isn't that there's too many results - it's that it says that they're are none (or too many). I had the same problem. I did notice that if I narrow it down by searching through the topics only, I'll get info even though it came up with nothing when I searched through the topics and replies. I guess that it just comes up with too many results, so it gives you nothing. I only mentioned the whole thread thing because it's nice not to see 10 results from the same thread...
