Anyone had experience with...
body repairs on an '05? My drunk uncle backed into my baby on Thanksgiving...after I cried for an hour, I made it very clear that he would be paying to fix it. I'm getting estimates from body shops this week, but I have a guy that's gonna actually do the work. My guy says that it's gonne be hella expensive because it's dounble walled where the dent is...anyone have to deal with this yet?

Sorry to hear about that. I rearended someone at 5 mph and the front bumper cost $900 to repair. I also had a rear fender door ding that cost me $300. I was rearended at 65mph by a uninsured driver probably going 80+. I'm waiting to take it to the bodyshop. I can't open the trunk. I guess it will be at least a couple grand[:@]. The car is still driveable. I don't have pics.

The body shop must paint the complete panel. Make sure they do. And charge your uncle 30% more than the actual repair cost to compensate the pain and liver damage...

My car had a new rear bumper installed in October. I was standing right there watching when the woman in the SUV backed into it, but I couldn't get her attention until she had already caved it in several inches. Fortunately, I know of a good body shop that did a perfect repair on it.
The worst part is that I had picked a parking place away from all the other cars in the parking lot in hopes of protecting my car. I couldn't imagine someone backing straight across twenty feet further than necessary without bothering to check what was back there. I think she may have looked a few minutes before when she got into the SUV, because she sure wasn't looking behind her once she stuck it into reverse. She made some comment about a "blind spot". I guess the entire back side of your head can be considered a blind spot if you don't use your mirrors or turn around.
I hope they do a good job repairing your car.

i had a similar smash-up on my 81 Mustang. If you go the cheap way and use bondo it can de done for a few hundred! If Uncle comes up with enough cash expect a job done right to cost about $1000 w/ paint.
Those stories are enough to make me want to get that alarm that yells when people or cars get within several feet of your car! I think you could program it to say all sorts of things!
