Ford Wants $2,200.00 for HIDs!
Heya calmlikeabomb, that's also a good point. However in the end it is all on the officers discretion what he/she considers to be 'street legal'. Not trying to deter anyone from saving some money, but just be conscience not every officer is as lenient as the next one that may drive by you!

Georgia State Patrol is pretty strict on laws IMO, and Ive never been pulled over for that, im sure Cali is different though.
I own a new Volvo that as active Bi Xenon lights. Really cool option that was listed as at $850. I recently had a fender bender (don't ask, I am sick about it) and the right light has to be replaced. The part alone is $1800... for just one light! Holy sheize!
LMAO $2,200 for HIDs? Insanity, Retro-Solutions all the way. Without shields or a coating that light is gonna go all over the place and blind oncoming drivers. Good thing you went with the coating
When properly installed these things look stock so you shouldn't have any issues with the cops. Yes, I'm in Cali and haven't had a single issue with mine.

Dealers are the WORST place to buy OEM parts. Perfect example, my old 00 V6 the Motorcraft plugs that are OEM cost $8 each from the dealer..8 BUCKS!?!?! I went to Rock auto and got the plugs for $5. Wires, OEM Motorcraft were $160 from the dealer....$55 from rock auto for the IDENTICAL stuff. Brakes, same thing, it goes on and on.
Get the OEM number for the parts then look them up online. Probably find them way cheaper through a different dealer online.

The human eye loses focus being just a small fraction of the wrong geometry but you're changing the geometry to an extreme degree to give the issue perspective. The optics of your headlights will look like a cookie cutter instead of a nice smooth beam pattern and you won't be able to see right.
Obviously you're being ripped off but you didn't "omg get HID's for $300 instead of $2200" what you got was a HID bulb which costs $120 for a pair and two $25 voltage converters that I've made myself for even less. It's like buying 60 watt light bulb instead of a desk lamp, there's a big difference. It's real annoying to other drivers and against the law...
What you bought was an illegal set of lights that are not going to work correctly. HID bulbs are almost twice as long as standard bulbs and your headlight housing will be extremely blinding and many users have melted theirs on here.
